Coming to Brisbane

After a string of mainstream and alternative hits spanning two decades, including Santa Monica, I Will Buy You a New Life, Wonderful and Father of Mine, Portland rockers Everclear are embarking on their first tour down under in 14 years to promote their new album Invisible Stars, and will be calling into West End to say hi to all their Brisbane-based fans.

Old favorite gems

All the old favourites as well as the gems from their latest album will be played with aplomb by the quintet, including frontman Art Alexakis, who at 50 is still continually proving himself to be one the hardiest and most enduring figures in modern rock after a highly successful and acclaimed US tour leg. So whether you’re a fan of the band from wayback or just like good alternative rock, Everclear are sure to pack as big a punch as the drink they named themselves after when they come to West End’s Hi-Fi next month!

If you’re looking for somewhere cosy and intimate to have a drink, then head to one of Brisbane’s growing number of small bars. They are full of charm, relaxed and have an impressive selection of fine wines.
They are full of character, very intimate, allowing a quiet recreation in a relaxed atmosphere and most importantly: pay special attention to this red, that white and their friends.

In the CBD

Bar Barossa

This sophisticated bar is at the end of Adelaide Street, on the corner of Macrossan Street (close to the Story Bridge and the Valley) and it regularly hosts events and tastings for wine lovers. It’s definitely a bar for ‘grown ups’ who love a fine drop of red.

Mine Your Own Business ($5 to see film, includes pizza slices and drink)

Tuesday 6pm, Tribal Theatre

Mine Your Own Business exposes the dark side of environmentalism. The documentary hacks away at the cosy image of environmentalists’ as well meaning, harmless activists.

Mine your own business – Tribal Theatre

What the film is about

The film is a documentary about the poor towns, mining companies and how environmentalists are not always the good guys. It is a controversial film and this is the only cinema in Brisbane where it is currently screening.

Web: Mine Your Own Business

The Good You are All Doing

$1 from every movie ticket sold will be donated to the Against Malaria Foundation to help them buy bed nets to help stop the spread of Malaria in poor countries. So, you can know that you guys are a part of a cinema helping to make a difference in people’s lives.

Extra bits

You can use the screening room space to catch up with each other and chat about the film for those interested, pizza and drinks included and instead of screening trailers, you can have your own messages screened on the big screen for something a little different {has to be G rated}. A joke, a quote, a romantic message to your partner, just let me know.

Also, instead of screening boring ads before the film, we are going to be screening something different, there will be jokes, an unsolved mystery, even amusement park rides to experience from the comfort of your cinema seat, so for a different experience then you usually get at other cinemas, come see the film, tickets only $5.
